Publication
of Nissui Original Calendar for 2006
Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (Naoya Kakizoe, President & CEO) has produced
and published Nissui Original Calender for 2006 "Sakana no Tsuragamae (Portraits
of Fish)".
"Gyofu (atlas of fish)" consists of exquisitely detailed, original
color pictures drawn by Mr. Tohshiro Kumada of Kyodo Gyogyo Kaisha, Ltd.
(the predecessor of our Company), who began drawing fish as part of his
research on fishery resources in the early Showa Era (with the cooperation
of painters Shigeru Arita and Kikue Tomita).
Images of colorful fish found in Japanese and surrounding waters are depicted
elegantly in detail. More than a thousand images were produced in a period
of twenty years or so, and were published under the title "Nihon Suisan
Gyofu" on Nissui's fiftieth anniversary in 1961. The images were later
used in many picture books of fish.
The 2006 calendar is Nissui's ninth calendar featuring gyofu, its precious
asset.
The latest calendar features fish with distinctive faces carefully
selected from gyofu, drawn with delicate brushstrokes. We hope you will
enjoy the dynamic presentation of the unique faces of fish.
