Influence of a Huge Earthquake in the Tohoku Region

Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (Nissui) announced the latest information, as of AM9:00 on March 13, on damages and losses of Nissui and Group Companies caused by a recent earthquake in the Tohoku region.

Based on company's risk management policy, Nissui is confirming safety of employees and their family as the most urgent and crucial thing. Unfortunately due to communication service interruption and off-limits area, Nissui hasn't confirmed safety of employees and their family of Onagawa Plant (employees: 137, staffs from external organization on business: 3) and Onagawa Fish Feed and Oil Plant (employees: 21, including 2 staffs on business trip to Tokyo whom Nissui have already confirmed safety) until now.
Nissui's other area's plants, business offices and so forth are confirming safety of employees and their family.

As for plant facility, Onagawa Plant and Onagawa Fish Feed and Oil Plant are expected to be seriously damaged by tsunami (seismic surges). Meanwhile Nissui has confirmed that tsunami seriously damaged Hachikan's Kuji Plant. Nissui hasn't found any damage of external appearance at Kashima Plant, manufacturing fine chemical products, and is fully in the progress of internal inspection and necessary measures.
Hachikan Headquarters (plant), Mogami Foods and other plants of Nissui and Group Companies at Funabashi area are expected to take some time to recover due to damage of internal equipment, infrastructure and so forth.
