Organizational Restructuring, Changes in Responsibilities of Board Members, and Assignments of General Managers

Please be informed that Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (Representative Board Member, President & CEO – Naoya Kakizoe) will be restructuring its organization, changing the responsibilities of its Board Members, and appointing General Managers as indicated below.

I. Organizational Restructuring (As of March 1)

(1) Fisheries and Food Products Business Operation Division

  • The main purpose of the structural reform is to strengthen the marine products business. Specifically, the sales functions will be separated from the procurement functions, with the sales organization modified from a fish species based to a customer based structure, in order to further reinforce customer-oriented sales capabilities. An additional purpose is to promote the creation of and proposals regarding the food culture by enhancing the collaboration between the marine products business and the food products business, which are the Company’s strengths.

1) Fisheries Business Operation-Related
(Establishment of new organizations; transfer of functions)

  • Deputy Fisheries Business Operating Officer (Sales) and Deputy Fisheries Business Operating Officer (Procurement) will be newly established under Fisheries Business Operating Officer to assist with the duties of the Operating Officer.
  • The sales functions of Fisheries Business Department 1 and Fisheries Business Department 2 will be transferred to the Fisheries Products Marketing & Sales Department o be established newly.
  • Fisheries Products Marketing & Sales Department will be in charge of sales to such customers as sea food wholesalers, mass retailers and fresh fish retailers in the Tokyo Metropolitan area, Kanto Shin-etsu area, Sendai, Nagoya, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka.
  • Procurement functions will be consolidated into Fisheries Business Department 1 (crabs, salmon, fish roe), Fisheries Business Department 2 (shrimp, frozen fish, squid, octopus, shellfish, fish paste (surimi)), and Fisheries Business Department 3 (frozen southern fish) to be newly established. Fisheries Business Department 3 will also be in charge of marine product exports to neighboring countries, in addition to procurement.
  • Fisheries Products Value-enhancing Department will be newly established to promote the use of marine products as food ingredients.

(Change in name)

  • The name "Kansai Fisheries Products Marketing & Sales Department" will be changed to "Osaka Fisheries Products Marketing & Sales department"

2) Food Products Business Operation-Related

  • Branch Offices will be reorganized to reflect the socio-economic changes. (Establishment of new organization, transfer of functions, change in name)
  • Hiroshima Branch and Shikoku Sales Department of Osaka Branch will be integrated into Chushikoku Branch

3) Business Support-Related
(Establishment of new position, transfer of functions, abolition of positions)

  • In order to further promote the collaboration between the marine products business and the food products business, the positions of Fisheries Products Sales Promotion Officer and Food Sales Promotion Officer will be abolished, and the functions thereof will be consolidated into the position of Marketing Promotion Officer to be newly established under the direct supervision of Chief Operating Officer.
