The
New Construction of a European Satellite Lab
As part of its business activities to convert marine resources into
the value that our customers expect, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (President & CEO:
Naoya Kakizoe), in order to improve and reinforce global R&D, will
construct a new satellite lab in the EU (Food Valley, the Netherlands)
as a new EU-based R&D center.
The Satellite Lab will function as a part of Nippon Suisan Europe,
B.V. and it will conduct its activities as a member of the Nissui Group.
In line with its midterm business plan “TGL Plan: FY2006 ---
FY2011”, Nissui is establishing a research structure in which it
can collaborate with research institutes around the world and develop
technologies to make the maximum use of limited marine resources.
The details of the Europe Satellite Lab are as follows.
Overview of the satellite lab:
- Name: Nissui Europe Satellite Lab
- Location: Food Valley BioPartner Building,
Wageningen, the Netherlands
Nippon Suisan Europe B.V. R&D Department
Nieuwe Kanaal 7J 6709 PA Wageningen
The Netherlands
- Date of opening: June 1, 2007
- Personnel structure: two persons (we plan
to dispatch one person from the Central Research Laboratory and hire
one person locally)
- Main research:
Just as computer-related companies are concentrated
in Silicon Valley in the United States, Food Valley in the Netherlands,
is a place where a large number of private, government, and academic
research institutes related to food industry are gathered, and is noted
for research and development in food processing, food health functions,
food safety and sanitation, fermentation (bio-production), and related
fields. Research results in these areas from Food Valley have caught
the eye of the Nissui Group as well, and the Nissui Group plans to put
efforts into research and development in the creation of value for marine
resources as well as the development of new products, which will be
necessary in order to make new entries into the continuously expanding
EU market.
