Nissui Group Company Cite Marine to Expand Production Capacity
2025/08/04
Cite Marine S.A.S. (headquarters: Kervignac, France), a Nissui Group company that manufactures and markets chilled and frozen seafood fries, has acquired the Pontivy plant of Traiteur de Paris (Cesson-Sévigné, France) with effect from 21 July (local time).

As the Group's European hub for white fish products, Cite Marine holds a commanding share of France's chilled white-fish-fry market and has driven its expansion. Building on this strength, the company has broadened its line up to include frozen convenience foods-such as vegetable-based alternative protein products and mini gratins-and chilled seafood tapas, thereby reinforcing its presence in adjacent categories.
Rising demand for these convenience items has strained capacity. To ease the bottleneck, Cite Marine will enlarge the Keranna plant in Plumelin (acquired 2022) and, through the newly acquired Pontivy facility, expand its chilled and frozen production. The Pontivy plant will be refurbished to Cite Marine specifications and is slated to begin producing frozen vegetable mini patties and seafood fries in 2026. At Keranna, an additional line scheduled for completion in the first half of next year will boost output of chilled white fish fries while improving logistics, optimising product allocation among sites and automating packaging.
These investments will work in concert with existing plants to create an optimised, flexible supply network capable of responding swiftly to market demand.
Since joining the Nissui Group in 2007, Cite Marine has steadily grown its scale and scope. Key milestones include construction of CM3 (2011) and CM5 (2017), acquisition of Halieutis (Lorient) and Miti (Nantes) in 2017, and the 2024 purchase of the Saint Hernin plant, which expanded its tapas line-up with octopus, squid and sardine products. These initiatives underpin the Group's long term vision, "GOOD FOODS 2030," accelerating global expansion. The enhanced capacity from the new sites will further strengthen Nissui's overseas food business and deliver innovative good solutions to consumers worldwide.
